Sandy Bigg
I grew up in a bridge-playing family and made my first slam at age five. Of course, my dad talked me through the whole thing, but I still remember what a thrill it was to collect all those tricks! Dad and I went to our first duplicate club 25 years ago--Mark Ehret's former Monday night game at Temple Israel--and got hooked. We played duplicate together at least once a week until he passed away in 2013. I miss him sorely.
I started taking bridge lessons from En Xie decades ago and have taken them ever since. I continue to learn new ways of thinking from him, and oh, what a treat it is to watch his play of the hand! I enjoy reading bridge books and playing duplicate with friends I've met at our local clubs over the years. I also love playing with my sister Chris at national and regional tournaments.
During my career years, I worked as an editor and teacher. I also took time off from work to raise three fine sons. Of course, I taught them the game! Besides bridge, I love hiking and traveling with my long-time boyfriend, cooking and sharing meals with family and friends, watching sports, and solving any kind of puzzle.
