Meeting Minutes for September 9, 2015

ACBL Unit 143 Board of Directors

Attendees: Linda Seibert, Pres.; Mary Dolan, VP; Becky Hubert, Secy; Karen Erlanger, Lee Hastings, Jeff Kopolow, Jay Shah, Mark Ziegelman, George Hawley, Jennifer Luner, Helene Siegfried. Absent Debbie Romero. Mike Carmen attended for Tournament discussion.

President Seibert called the meeting to order at 7:00pm. Minutes of the August meeting were approved for posting; Karen Erlanger moved to post, seconded by Mary Dolan. Corresponding Secretary’s report was accepted for file. Treasurer’s report was accepted for file; Ad hoc Finance Committee will meet to set criteria and make recommendations for purchases.

Tournament Business: Ann Lemp presented ideas to the Board regarding Sponsors for the Regional. Discussion regarding parameters/criteria pursued. Mike Carmen will touch base with the ACBL regarding sponsorship. Regarding the 2016 Regional, the Sunday team event will begin at 10:00 AM instead of 10:30. The Sunday team event was discussed. No vote will be taken on this topic until January or February. The October Sectional was discussed including a budget discussion; the forecast is for a breakeven event. The January Sectional has no proposed changes. The 199 tournament scheduled for September 26-27 is currently accepting reservations. Any reservations received between Sept 14-20 will be confirmed after Sept 21 st . Volunteer sign-ups were reviewed.

Old Business: None

Publicity: No report in light of Debbie Romero’s absence but all is on schedule.

Unit Games: No new information at this time.

Website: Changes to the website were illuminated.

Membership: Hubert reported membership continues to grow steadily each month with current count at 1418. Letters were mailed.

Date Book: Karen reported on final details of the new date book scheduled to be ready for distribution at the October Sectional.

Education: ACBL is now reviewing the Boy Scout proposal.

New Business: The new issue of an electronic central storage was discussed.

Next meeting is October 14, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the Olivette Community Center.

Seibert adjourned the meeting.
